The industry, such as it is, in the Falklands is agricultural and fishing. I'll bet they've got stuff that one would use in farming (T posts, barbed wire, etc.). Mind you, it might be expensive (although, they'd bring it in by ship, and it doesn't cost particularly more to ship something to the Falklands than anywhere else in the world) or it might take a couple days of scrounging around to find the local farm implement store.
For instance: http://www.falklands-malvinas.com/falklands/ffocus.htm
There are a number of car workshops in the Falklands phone directory. One could always use the classic "rear axle as big steel tent stake" approach. you hammer on the end with the gear that used to be in the differential. Surplus axles might be quite common, since it's expensive to haul stuff away from the island.
Here's the chamber of commerce web page: http://www.fidc.org.fk/ficc/tourism.htm
Why not give them a call or fax?
Falkland Farmers is listed as providing Agricultural Supplies, building and fencing materials, ironmongery, etc.
There's also FIC Homecare/Building Supplies
when it all comes down to it, the Falklands aren't that obscure and remote a place. Rural, yes. Isolated, yes. but not back of beyond third world. They've got local dealers for things like generators, inverters, big batteries, etc.
Now, if you were going to somewhere like South Georgia Island, it's probably a different story.
