Hello Tom

I've put up mine up twice and taken it down twice.
Easily and safely. It's easy to fabricate a gin pole for HBX

suitable pole (I use the one we use for Rohn towers as well - remove
  the leg clamps)

attach, in a safe manner, two strong 'U' brackets (the more narrow the better),
opening down, to the pole . These are to fit at the 'X' of the cross braces.
They will need to be adjustable and I suggest they be at the two ends for
max support. These are for vertical support only. You will need to pull the
pole flat against the tower as well so it doesn't move. I leave the method
up to you but I have use rope at the top and bottom of the pole. It's pain
to move the pole but it's a serviceable method.

Of course, all the safety caveats apply.

My XYL's aunt has offered me for free a Rohn HDBX 48 if I would just come take the tower down out of her backyard. Her OM (my XYL's uncle) became a SK and she has gotten rid of his station equipment, but she needs to get rid of the tower. I've helped take down and put up Rohn 25, 45, and 55 towers before, but nothing in the BX series. The HDBX series has the X bracing which I understands makes climbing difficult. I have a gin pole, but it fits only the 25,45, or 55 series and the HDBX series has different shaped section legs.

Anyone have any helpful suggestions (other than letting someone else take it down hi hi). I figure I may have to get a bucket truck.
