Sounds like you may be interested in a broadband dipole...eg for 80 cw and
75 ssb. I've been using a simple approach for years. Cut the dipole resonant
for the middle of the band portion you are interested in. Feed with a
quarter wave of 70 ohm coax at that same freq, then go the rest of the way
to the rig with 50 ohm.  All new wire antenas I build will use 10 ga
insulated wire. Bought a 500 ft roll from HD. Stands up better than 12 or
