I have a remote operated US Tower and have never felt comfortable cranking
the tower either up or down without watching it like a hawk. There are just
to many things that can go wrong and have gone wrong while the tower was
moving.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Inverted V On Crank-Up Tower

I am installing a 70 foot crank-up tower soon and would like to install an
inverted v antenna for 80/40 M. The tower will have a remotely controlled
motor to extend and nest it from the shack.

In such an arrangement, is their anyway to have a tensioned reel to take in
the antenna excess as the tower is lowered, or does one simply allow the
inverted v to drape down? I'm concerned about the wires snagging on
something and putting stress on the tower as it is remotely extended to
operating height.

Any suggestions?
