i have been using this approach for shortening antenna lenghts and it works
well for me.it is very simple i take a #12 gauge 3 wire extension cord and
use it as a linear load to make up the lenght of an antenna as such for 160m i
use 66ft of #12 wire then connect a 20 foot piece of extension cord to that
making the entire lenght 86 feet long the trick is in cutting the extension
cord so it is 22 feet long and taking 1 foot of insulation off each end the
wire colors are white green and black you leave the black 1 foot long and
trim back the white and green so only a 1 inch stub is exposed and then solder
those together and tape well on the other end leave the white wire 1 foot long
and trime the black and green back to one inch and solder together and then
tape well so the end result is a piece of cable that is 22 foot long one end
has white end and the other end is black looking at it it would be in
practice a z i make two of these and feed it with 450 ohm open wire line
supported from a 110 foot tower i can get the ends about 40 feet off the
ground and
tied to tree on my property i am on a 6600 foot lot so space is a preiemum
i have worked 212 ctrys of 160 with this antenna so it does work ray nr1r
