Last year, I stumbled across a product called "Pug Duct Seal",
which is used by electricians to seal around residential
power entrances.   It's a dark grey clay-like substance,
which works at body temp, and can form-fit to cables and
their surroundings.  And, it comes out easily enough that
you can work the conduit later. Critters apparently don't 
find it appealing.  

A 1 lb stick of this cost me around $2.
