The discussion of melting rivets brings up an interesting question: what
sort of finishing process is used on these things to avoid the corrosion
from dissimilar metals? Perhaps the aluminum/zinc combination isn't too
bad? If you were refinishing, maybe some sort of painting/coating process
might be good after something like sandblasting to remove the surface rust.
