Another thought is if you can get the connectors close together,
actually fitted the way you would If using them for a power
connection, they do have a small clip that will keep them together
Has small clips that go over each end, and small pins that go thru
the holes created my the small notch in the Connector bodies, to make
sure everything is located correctly.

Quite a firm grip once installed, your wire is more likely to give
way before the clamp and connector IMO

Just my 2 cents

I like the 30 amp powerpole connectors.  If you are concerned about
the firm locking grip, wrap the pair with a small piece of Scotch
Super 88.

Automotive connectors should also work fine.  However, that firm grip
makes it difficult to disconnect them quickly.
