Hello Van!
Congrats on your new 75 meter antenna. The HyTower is a real winner. I have
been using HyTowers since 1977 and they work very well.
How well your new antenna works depends on several factors.
Ground radials (more is better) will provide significant improvements in gain
performance.
The vertical will "hear" stations differently than your slopers as the two
antennas have different vertical take off angle performance.
The VSWR may not go up much with a good ground system, but that depends on
other factors as well.
Remember, a low VSWR does not always mean it is a good antenna.
The HyTower (like almost every antenna) obeys the law of reciprocity. What ever
good/bad effects your ground system has on receive will also be the same on
transmit as far as efficiency, gain, pattern, etc.
