In response to the question below, Cubex has aluminum splicing material for 
3" O.D. X 0.050 -0.060" Boom material.   We also can supply a splice for 
heavier walls aluminum of up to 0.083".  This requires the splice to be "slit" 
axially and compressed to insert (accomplished with a clamp that is supplied) 
and 
fixing with stainless steel screws to prevent twisting or collapse.   Whole 
piece lengths up to 12 ft are available, typical splice length is 18" to 36". 
Speaking of boom splices, where does one find a splice for 3" boom sections?
