On the way out the door steal your wife's plastic wrap out of the kitchen. You will still have something to wad up and pocket during tear down but a few pieces of plastic don't add much bulk. This is cheep and every kitchen has some.

Exactly... Pull to a stop, deploy, operate for a few hours (overnight?), tear down.




If it was up to me, I'd just give the joint a couple of quick wraps of cheap
electrical tape for a couple of hours.
