I mean no disrespect the the writer but you are buying protection
from lightning which is one of the biggest threats your station
has. Scrimping on lightning protection while spending thousands of
dollars on a radio and accessories makes no sense to me.

I agree 100%. It's like getting a no-name company for homeowners insurance.
It may be a good deal, until you need it.

After a lightning hit three years ago (a massive $8000 hit) my insurance
company told me I would have to get either a lightning rod system (I already
have
one outside the house, 3 200 footers) or something like the Polyphasers, or be
canceled. I bit the bullet and spent near $650 for the dozen Polyphasers I
needed to protect all the coax lines coming into the house. BEST INVESTMENT I
EVER MADE! I have been totally clean from any lightning hits for three years.
Understand also, that Central Florida is the lightning capitol of the North
America. Yep, the towers still get hit, but the energy has stayed outside the
house.

Would something other than Polyphasers have worked...maybe, probably, I don't
know. The Polyphasers worked for me and lots of the commercial installations
around the US.

I have no connection with Polyphaser (although I wish I did with the amount
of devices I had to buy!)
