When I had to run a rope over the peak of the roof between the tower and a
friend's
tow truck winch, I made a 2"x4" x-frame and mounted a steel wheel (looks like
it came
from a generator). Running the rope over the pulley worked just fine - the
tower
weighed 900 pounds (88' crank-up).
So a steel pulley from the auto junk yard worked fine.
