This happened to me once during a contest at night. Climbing the tower
in darkness to rock the beam was no fun. That was enough to search for a
solution.

I installed a small DPDT center-off toggle switch on the control box
front panel to defeat either limit switch when so desired. When in the
center position, the rotator functions normally. If it jams against
either stop, I push the toggle in that direction and alternate the
CW-CCW switches once and it's free.
