Blake used my raising fixture from my US Tower to take down the tower in
Orlando. We were able to get the UST fixture to fit the base attachment
points on the HY-Gain tower base by using very long grade 8 bolts. The
fit was very sloppy and one bolt wasn't quite long enough so we couldn't
get a full nut on the bolt. It made some creaking noises when we lowered
the tower and in fact the nut came off the short bolt however the bolt
was in enough of a bind that it couldn't slip out. If it had someone
would have been hurt not to mention messing up the tower.

I'm sure if one wanted they could purchase the UST raising fixture and
make permanent mods to make it bolt up as it should. I believe the
fixture is in 500 dollar price range.

If you have the COMPLETE instructions / manual for the tower, there is a
very good gin pole/erection fixture diagram in the back. They are in
common use around the country I am sure. Some people I have heard are
using surplus aluminum utility pole(s) cut down and used. I think the
pole is on the order of 18ft. Best thing to do is to look at that and
build something. It cannot be expensive but somewhat labor intensive to
get set up. The guy that took my tower down had used the raising fixture
for a US Tower but had to do some welding to the existing HyGain
concrete base ears to attach it. Unfortunately, this would not be a good
idea if you intend to reuse the ears as of course you would. The welding
might not be the way to treat them if you know what I mean. ( Blake in
Tampa are you reading this...maybe explain how you did this over in
Orlando...) All in all, I would just build the fixture that HyGain
suggested. - Mike

Have one of these and need some help. Very well built but a bear to
work with and I need to do some rotator repair and antenna repair after
getting it moved from Portland and reinstalled at our coast home.

1. Currently use the local auto hauler to come up, extend his boom, hook
around and lay the tower over (high associated cost and very difficult
to schedule plus can't get in when rains come during winter!). Does
anyone have any knowledge of a fixture/winch that someone has designed
for this tower that I can build to lay it over in lieu of the wrecker?

2. Any suggestions on a good and safe way to get just the inner section
up to get at the rotator. When fully nested it is impossible to get at
the darn thing. Regular fixed tower gin poles don't work.

3. Did Hy-Gain really construct it or was it done by another tower
manufacturer if anyone happens to know

Thanks in advance for the usual good advice from this site.
