That's a pure winch. For tower work, a better solution is a capstan winch.
Using a capstan winch, you wrap three or four turns of rope around the
capstan. The operator applies 5 pounds force and can lift 200 pounds.
There is a chart for this somewhere that gives the ratios of turns to
weight. The rope can also slip on the capstan if the forces do not balance.
Since the ground operator has to apply a small force, he can quickly tell is
something binds and correct the issue.
