There are two ways to climb a utility pole. Either you have steps
installed before you put it up or you use clinbing spikes. Alternatives are
some type of track or a lift.
Utility companies usually have some used poles and they don't want to take
care of cleaning up the pole so they are glad to give them to you. They or
their contractor will put them in the ground for you for less than a load of
concrete
for a large US Tower. Most are between 40 and 70 feet
before using 8 to10 feet to get them in the ground. 120 poles are available
from several suppliers but run about $6,000 to dekiver and install,
You need enough room or a clear space to install them, Mine was in the
backyard in Mississippi about 50 feet from the house.
My local power company says they are starting to switch to those composite
metal/concrete you see along highways.
Those are much heavier!
