Hello Warren

 Depending on what version of the code your municipality uses, the tank may not 
need to be grounded.However there should be a section in the Fuel/Gas code that 
requires a bond on the piping if it enters the structure. If it is for a pool 
heater or something else the heater will be bonded. Hope this helps.
