I started out with whatever end caps were supplied for a LARGE range of yagis
at my former rather harsh ENY QTH.
Eventually, they mostly fell off without any adverse consequence. Maybe the
bugs could not fly that high? In my more benign NFL QTH, the end caps are
still on. OK. Big deal.
Another way of looking at it... If you look for trouble, you'll find it.

Go work some DX and don't hassle over the small stuff.
