I think I posted this a long time ago.
Back in the early 60's, I placed a short telephone pole, say about 20
feet in length in a 4 foot hole in the coral in Hawaii.? I was a poor broke
second louie so I had ropes for a "rotator".
Because of the cramped little backyard, the pole was erected about
8 feet from a four-wire closeline running about 50 feet to the north and 100
feet to the south.? Put one of the first model Hy-Gain tri-banders "up there".
I could not fight off the contacts. When I returned home from over night work
assignments, I would turn the rig on and have a bit of breakfast.? Go upstairs
and dip the final.
I did not even have to sign my call; the?Europeans were calling like crazy.
So, do what you can with what you have with eyes toward the future.
