I had an Ameritron for a number of years and was downsizing and decided to
replace the switch as it was starting to rust. Before I did that I wanted
to see how the switch fared with a simple test. I placed a signal source on
one of the coax connectors and injected the signal. I then turned on the
xcvr and stepped through the various antenna positions. At every position I
could hear the signal source (all other input positions the coax was
removed). After receiving a DXEngineering remote switch I ran it through
the same test, nothing heard in the other positions. This is not a very
scientific test but a good indication of the kind of isolation between the
two switches. I had to wonder what all the signals running around my switch
was doing to my receive noise floor. Would have been a good measurement to
take but I did now have the proper equipment for the test. DXEngineering
switch is a bit pricy but hopefully longevity, and performance will continue
to justify the cost.
