given path at any given time depends on the vertical angle at
which you need to enter that path, the vertical pattern of your
antenna(s), the polarization of those antennas, and the
directivity/polarization relationship between those antennas
and noise sources.
Experienced low band operators have always said, "you can never
have too many antennas." N6RO, who has directional arrays on
80 and 160 (both horizontal and vertical on 80) also has
Beverages. When he's working a 160 contest, he even patches
antennas for higher bands into RX switching for the 160
station.
