For some reason my family of Harris Hawks like to site on myXM240 at about
130 feet. Fortunately they don't like sitting on the flimsy elements and sit
on the boom instead. I really like those hawks, they are forever killing
rats, snakes and grackles in my yard and the surrounding fields. I almost
never have snakes in the yard but I know the hawks find rattlers from time
to time!
The little ones are also fun to watch. I do keep a 22 around for the
possums.

Last fall, we had ELEVEN turkey vultures that were
perched on my stack of yagis on my 76' tower. These
birds are very large; their wing spans can exceed 6'
from tip to tip.
My little CushCraft A3-WS didn't like having the birds
sitting on the elements, though. The reflector was
moved out of position, due to the weight of a couple of
my feathered friends perched on the element.
I don't try to keep any birds off of my antennas. In
addition to the turkey vultures, we are regularly visited
by red-tailed hawks, who especially seem to like being
on the antenna on my 130' tower.
