A simple loop antenna has a deep null broadside to the loop for vertically
polarized signals only. Its great for nulling local noise sources but
completely ineffective for skywave propagated noise on 160 and 80 meters.
A pennant or K9AY loop is a great solution, but a simple loop is not.
