Mike,

You need a new engineer!  ASTM A53 is welded pipe, generally used for
water or natural gas service.  AISI 4130 is a far superior material, it
will be seam less mechanical tubing with a defined ID and OD and wall
thickness.  The only draw back to AISI 4130 is that it needs to have
some form of corrosion protection applied to it.  Most hams have the
mast hot dipped galvanized.
