Prefer the vert. against a wire on 40m & 80m .
It's my back up antenna. Gnd mounted with just an 8' ground with no radials.
4 yr.s ago it was my only antenna up. For fun I ran 100w in CQWW CW. Wrkd 100 
countries that weekend.It will beat  most wires for low angle DXing. Radial 
field helps. It's survived 80 MPH wind.
