Hi Folks!
Here is the scoop on the vertical...

1. I took it all apart and cleaned up or replaced the bad hardware.

2. There was a significant amount of moisture between the main tube and the
coupling sleeve. Any ideas on how to prevent that from getting in there?
Can I use some RTV at the top where there is a protective ring to keep the
water out of the top?

3. I'll need to get some additional hardware tomorrow because some of the
original stuff was replaced by junk. Once done, I'll run some more tests.

Questions:
1. How should the two sections sleeve together? Is it OK that they can slip
and rotate a bit? If not, then how does one lock it in place?

2. Should the outer sleeve be all the way down against the plastic base? If
not, how do you hold it up above?

Again, thanks again to each of you and the others on the list for your
thoughtful comments and ideas?

Hi Folks!
More photos of the RV-4C.
Any further insights would be welcome!

Hi Folks!
Well, it seems that there is more to investigate here.
I cleaned up and re-tightened connections and replaced the ground connection
from the 75/80 kit and also added the radials for 40 and 20 meters, but the
results were pretty much the same.

Suggestions anyone?
:-)

Larry,
You seem to be correct! Perhaps it is an RV-4C!
Hang on...I'm heading out the door to run the tests!

Hi Gordon and all,

http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/mosley/rv4c/

Here is the manual for the antenna and it shows only two traps. If I
remember correctly mine would have only had two traps as I had it in the
early 70's. If I rememebr correctly I had to retighten screws/clamps or
whatever to keep 75m going. It is an odd adaption. I will look through my
manuals to see if I still have a copy of the 75m kit. For now back to
painting.
