David,

Years ago the N4RJ contest station ( 7 or 8 towers) had a 4 stack of
Cushcraft 4 el 10 meter beams. We had some help from W2PV and K6STI with
the stack arrangement. We found that
the best place for the bottom beam was 22 feet.
During Dx tests this was pointed at South America.
The top was 105 feet and that worked great for Asia from Georgia. JT1KAA
said N4RJ was the strongest W4 on the band.

It takes a lot of experiments to get it right and of course much depends on
band conditions. Right now a 3 stack would be plenty with the top at 76
feet. 22 Feet is still fine for LU/CE.
