 Looking at my OLD 204BA manual, the hairpin/beta match is described as the one 
in the 203  link. looks like  the original 204 design.    Being Fixed  drilled 
both boom  & element ,use the fixed # Hy-gain # Beta rod 1/4" (1751211 ) for 
matching.  I see no problem using the adjustable  straight rod/grounding clamps 
use in the newer design . Matter of fact  I had a stack of 4/4 years ago and 
went to the adjustable match hairpin method  on the lower antenna to achieve 
equal  feed point  match  the lower antenna exhibited,  because the tower mount 
and guy wire impact.
The original was not Crazy but drove my amp nuts , resulting tuning between the 
hi low switch..       Darn grid current  :(
