I would point the boom into the wind. Breaking the fiberglass tubes is going to 
be 
less expensive than replacing a boom. Of course the tape is homed.
But as has already been pointed out, the wind isn't going to be from a steady 
direction, so I really think all this is to give ourselves the feeling we did 
something to mitigate damage.
