I use the wb0w one also and like it. As dick said, if they have the head
and clamp available you can get your own pole.

For moving the pole up I attach a small pulley to a big snap clip and run a
light line through it. One end of the line goes on the gin pole clamp, the
other goes back to the ground. So when a new section is being pulled up you
unsnap the clip on the pulley from the section you are on and snap it on the
top rung of the new section as it passes you. Once the bolts are in place
you have the ground crew hold the rope on the gin pole, lower the pole,
disconnect the clamp and have them pull it up as you climb with it to keep
it from snagging on the rungs. Clamp it back to the leg and raise the pole
and you are ready for another section.

FWIW, I have a WB0W gin pole for Rohn 55G and wouldn't think of using
anything smaller. What are the availability problems? If you can get the
head and clamp, you may be able to find a 12-foot .25" wall aluminum pole
somewhere else. I highly recommend thick-wall aluminum because steel is
*way* too heavy to lift by hand. I had a hard enough time moving the
aluminum pole with the heavy head and clamp. Probably best to rig a separate
pulley and rope for that, which would make it more feasible to use a steel
pole, though still pretty hard to horse it around.
