Hi Dave. I think you're talking about a never-seize or anti-seize type of 
product. I've heard that galvanized bolts do not need any, but I don't think it 
would hurt. I wouldn't use it on the galvanized section joining bolts, though, 
because every time you climb your tower you'll get streaks and smears of the 
stuff all over your clothes!
