Jim, I had a 205BAS up for years at about 70 feet at my old QTH. I won’t say it broke pileups on the first call but it did an excellent job and in 13 years I never had to touch it. This was one of the pre-MFJ models. As others have said, it can be optimized further for better forward or F?B gain.
