Going to build up a dual torroid core 4:1 balun for the KT-34XA and have
several cores and several choices of wire. Standard #10 romex, that I can
strip and put in Teflon tubing and wind that, or I also have some really
nice silver plated small dia. Coax Teflon insulated, that is about #9-10
center, stranded, which is usable as is, or it's easy to strip out the
center conductor with Teflon intact.

So question, is there any reason not to use silver plated stranded wires,
Teflon insulated? Is there a reason most use solid core for torroid wound
balun? Is it availability or cost or technical reasons?
