...and be sure to buy your super synthetic oil during the dark of the moon and pour it through a gold plated funnel using a minimum of 73.286% ultra-violet light of 340 nanometers wavelength to mitigate airborne pathogens.

Hey guys, it is super unlikely that anyone could measure a definitive difference in the wear of a rotor's lubricated parts when using dino-lube vs synthetic. (Gasoline or diesel powered rotors excepted.) Rotors generate very little in the way of sulfur based acids or other deleterious compounds t associated with an ICE that need an additive package to maintain a reasonable service life.

How does one determine when to change oil? Is it based on the cumulative distance communicated using antennas rotated by that rotor? Maybe a Hobbs meter (cumulative hours the motor is energized?) Do you take a sample and send it to the lab for analysis? Or do you use a Ouija board. I have a low cost Ouija service offered to those who desire Ouija assistance in preventative maintenance but have no board of their own.

Magic incantations are more likely to produce superior results than synthetic lubricants in this application. I'm good in QRZ. Upon receipt of a money order or other form of negotiable tender I will solemnly incant a proper incantation commensurate with the size of the stipend. Those opting for monthly incantations (varying in content and none recycled!) may pay quarterly AND those paying a year in advance will receive 2 B O N U S incantations between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox.

I also have connections with the Miraculous Mother Murphy, The Most Reverend Brother Ikrencoulter and a panoply of other XERB potentates of a better time.

I have NOMEX long johns so don't waste any energy flaming unless you have thermonuclear capabilities.

I belong to many auto and motorcycle reflectors, and it is always fun to kick off an “oil thread” there.
Never expected to get to do so on a tower/ham reflector!

There won't likely be a problem either way, but, given the current cost of oil and the amount in the typical hub, this is a value decsion worth $10 - the cost between synthetic and conventional oil. For my $10, synthetic oil is in my hub.

Mobil says there is NO PROBLEM with mixing synthetic oil and natural dino oil in any ratio for use in cars and motorcycles, so I can’t imagine how there could be a problem in your gearbox. That gearbox has nothing like the high-speed shear forces found in automotive applications, and expensive synthetic oil is a waste.
