In my mind, that's questionable data.
In our local club, I only know of ONE lone member who uses an EFRW antenna and
that's because he lives in a neighborhood with an HOA and the single 33' length
of wire fed by an RG8X lead firmly attached to the rear side of the tree that
serves as its front of the property "mast" is lost from sight from the front of
the house or the street because of the surrounding trees. His 2m/70cm vertical
is in the attic of the home, so it too is hidden from view.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Truth, Fiction, or Fantasy?
This was recently posted on the internet by one of hamdom’s self appointed
experts:
“The Joe Hams of this world . . . where currently 60% of them seem to be
quite happy with an EFHW antenna, 30% with an EFRW (Random Wire) antenna, and
10% understand antenna technology.”
Is this anywhere near accurate?
Could it possibly be so?
Are 60% of the 779,545 US hams (467,727) and 60% of the 3.345 million
World-wide hams (2 million) really “happy with” or “using” an EFHW?
Or another 30% (233,863 in the US and 1 million World-wide ) “happy with” or
“using” an end-fed random wire?
That leaves only 334,569 who understand antenna technology!
Even with a ballot with room for write-in candidates!!
I must have missed the survey, and certainly wouldn’t have answered “yes” to
the “are you happy with an end-fed half wave or random wire.”
