Thanks for that suggestion, Jake. I've got the Ox-Gard and the green
scrubber pads. I was going to use kerosene but I already have WD40.

JC, K0HPS, is looking for a substitute for Butter-its-not:

JC: I've used WD40 and green kitchen scrubber pads to clean the aluminum on
antennas. Messy, but it works. Wipe tubes off after cleaning using an old
rag.
THEN go to your local Big Bos and get a tube of Gardner Bender Ox-Gard in
the electrical dept. Using a piece of fresh Green scrubber pad, squirt some
of the anti-ox on the greenie, and then twist it around the tube at the
connection point. It will further clean the aluminum and leave a very
fine/thin coating on the tubing. If you use too much you WILL strip out your
hose clamps before the connection gets tight enough to not turn.(Don't ask
me how I know this <GRIN>)

Good luck on the project.
