Kent,
I'd suggest you follow the same procedure I did when I was in the process of
buying my roof-top solar system. QRM horror stories are all over the map and
every installation can be different ... so regardless of whatever anyone says,
"trust but verify."
I my case, I had my contractor give me the names and addresses of 3 previous
recent customers who would permit me to visit their homes and run some RFI
tests around their properties.
With approval granted, I then walked around each property with a borrowed Yaesu
QRP HF/VHF radio to test for QRM out of each system. My contractor claimed the
inverters he was using complied with the latest RFI prevention specs but I had
to see for myself.
A fellow ham joined me on the morning's outing and we were able to conclude my
contractor was correct for each of his previous installs. We checked each
band, 160m through 70cm, and nary a blip!
My solar system has now been in operation for the past 5-yrs providing me with
over 40% of the daily power we consume and even though my antenna is within 40'
of the system, there is no QRM.
