I sure apprecaite the time Dean & Jack spent writing this conversion
utility for TR-LOG -> DXBase. If there is ever time for a minor
upgrade to the utility, I would request the following:
For domestic contests, extract the state from the exchange information
and place it into the appropriate 'state' field position in the SDF output
file. The current conversion utility ( TR2DXB45.EXE ) does not populate
the DXB 'state' field at all, and simply places the entire exchange in the
'comments' field. The current end result is that the DXBase statistics do
not reflect new state totals from the recently imported contest.
The tough part with solving this may be that the state is not always in the
same position of the TR 'exchange' field for different contests.
I am a very satisfied TR-LOG and DXBase user at this point, and will stick
with both for the forseeable; that's I want to keep tweaking them!
TR is a CONTESTING program, and DXB is a DX/Awards program. Different
animals, different requirements. Just want to see the conversions get even
smoother over time. Did anything ever come of the Standard Interchange
File discussions that were sprouting?
