I vote to keep the feature as well.
The times I forgot to \ON, I did not find any problems except that the off
time was goofed up. It could be corrected in the Ctrl-J menu or after the
contest with a text editor.
I like the feature for contests that I intend to work the maximum amount of
time. Let the computer keep up with the record keeping.
I'll probably start putting a "sticky-do" note on the keyboard to remind me
to \ON when I return.
