I have been using TR-Log for several years and no problem using just about
any old computer. CQWWCW this year was going to be a part time, with Sunday
almost no operating. I decided to operate assisted with all the bells and
whistles. Had a blast chasing the packet spots and watching band maps,
looking at beam headings with sun rise / sun set times. I was loaded for
comfort. The TS-940 followed every comand. I did notice that the writing to
the log was slow, something that has never happen before. The old 386 / 25
just could not keep up. There was a 2 to 3 second delay in transfering the
call sign and report to the log. My guess is packet / band map slowed down
the program. I did not remove any options so I don't know what was the real
cause of the slow down. I am sure it was NOT a TR-Log problem. My memory
showed 60k plus at minimum durning the contest. My question is what is the
minimum (cheapest) system usable for max comfort mode! I did operate for 2
hours in the ARRL 160 contest without the assisted mode and eveything was
ok.
