BTW you can also enter these characters from within TR in the ALT-P (Memory 
Program Function) window. When you select the key to program and are asked for 
input CTRL-P will entry of control keys directly. So to enter NEXTBANDMAP as 
CQ function key F9 use the following sequence which is also shown somewhere in 
the program documentation.

ALT-P (opens memory program dialog)
C (choose CQ menu)
F9 (choose F9 key to program)
CTRL-P, CTRL-C, NEXTBANDMAP, CTRL-P, CTRL-D, <enter>
