The higher accuracy the better. In Europe 6 digit grid references are required as a minimum for distance calculations for contest scoring. For microwaves 8 digits helps aiming and improves the accuracy of the distance calculation.. The greater the accuracy the less chance there is of the checker voiding it for vagueness.
