They did not.  The ARRL and CQ DX contests have both assisted and 
non-assisted categories for single ops in their contests with the exception of
the CQ WPX RTTY contest and the CQ VHF contest.

I think it would be find to add assisted single op categories 
to the ARRL VHF contests.  I would like to continue to keep the 
non-assited categories at the same time.
