I think I've had the same. I have the modem muted, so I haven't heard
any squealing. My packet window telnet seems OK as long as I don't
order it to SHOW too much. Here's what happens:

1. At my cluster, if I just type the menu command "DX", I begin
receiving new spots as they come in - works fine.
2. If I type something like "SH/DX/15" (and it has at least 15 spots to
show), that works fine too.
3. However, if I type "SH/DX/30" (and it apparently has LESS THAN that
number to show), then it has a problem. It displays the number that it
has, ie say 20, then starts sending an endless string of CR/LF. I
assume this is when Barry hears the squealing. I, too, have to
CTL-ALT-DEL and END TASK.

Hope this is helpful. The "work-around" here is to just ask for about
10 posts initially, and then take the current spots as they come in. 73
