HI ALL,

LIKE I ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THE STUTTERING PROBLEM IS CAUSED
BY WINDOWS AND NOT BY WRITELOG .

I DO NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AND COULD NOT FIND OUT WHY UNTIL
RON AND I VISITED JOHN ON4UN JUST BEFORE WE WERE LEAVING
TO FRIEDRICHSHAFEN GERMANY. JOHN TOLD US THAT HE ONLY HAS THIS
PROBLEM ON ONE COMPUTER IN HIS NETWORK
....................................THE ONE
WERE THERE IS A PRINTER CONNECTED AND INSTALLED, AT MY SETUP THE PRINTER
IS ALSO ON ONE OF THE COMPUTERS IN THE NETWORK BUT IS NEVER USED FOR
ANY HAM PROGRAMS.

WHEN THERE IS NO PRINTERSOFTWARE INSTALLED ALL IS WORKING FINE
WHEN THERE IS ONE, AT STARTUP WINDOWS AUTO LOADS THE FOLLOWING FILE

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WINSPOOL.DRV

AND THIS ONE HAS THE PRIORITY TO CHECK YOUR LPT PORT FOR DATA
EVEN THERE IS ANOTHER PROGRAM RUNNING IT CHECKS YOUR PORT
FREQUENTLY IF THERE IS A PRINTING JOB THAT'S WHY WE GET THE STUTTERING CW.

SOLUTION BY ON4UN

RENAME C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WINSPOOL.DRV TO WHATEVER YOU LIKE
AND RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED NOW
BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN'T USE YOUR PRINTER UNTIL YOU RENAME IT
AGN TO THE OLD FILE NAME AND RESTART AGN.
