K5DJ told me that writelog (this was in 2000) needed 64MB of RAM and
plenty of hard drive to run. 128MB was even better.
I have an old P100 IBM Aptiva running W 95 that has 128MB RAM and twin
1.2GB hard drives. W95 does not support large drive (Over 1.2GB) hard
drives. I run Writelog and Juno internet at the same time with no
problem. So far I have not tried all the interconnect options (CW send
and RX does work) and have had no real problems with my sound card (IBM
combo type).
I run the CQ 160 Contests and WT4I programs on Drive D...Wish I could get
a newer PC
but I can't overlook the sunk cost of the old PC. It works but if I
were trying all the writelog options I would get a bigger and faster PC!
Notebooks (I have a 700Mhz one up stairs) run slower than most desk tops
and they cost more.
