Tried to use my soundcard as the DVK over the weekend and ran into a couple
of problems. This is the setup.
Soundblaster 16 PCI
FT1000MP.
Heil Boomset.
I recorded the messages with the Heil directly into soundcard and trimmed
them. I connected the soundcard output to the patch input through a RS
isolation transformer. Put the Heil back on the mic connector.
Problem #1. Started out with the volume and wav controls at 50%. On
playback, ALC deflection was lower than that produced by the mic. Raised
above controls to full scale. Still not equal to deflection produced by
mic. Tried over the air. Multiple calls with DVK got no response. One call
on mic made contact.
Problem #2. Tried a timed CQ just to see if it would work. It worked with
the same problems as above, but I couldn't escape from the loop. I ended
up going into the port setup and setting DVK to none to stop it.
Where am I going wrong?
