The first step is to remove CW form LPT. LPT is not supported by WriteLog in
XP or in 2000. Three is a driver (not free $#9 I think and not from
WriteLog) available that will allow you to use it. I think that as XP
becomes more and more prevalent that this will have to be fixed by WriteLog
or it will hurt them a lot. That would be too bad as I don't want to lose
use of it.
This will not be easy. It will require a driver which is some of the most
difficult code to write and test. It MUST be well tested as it runs in ring
zero and can crash the entire system, causing data loss and other nasty
things.

If you do remove LPT then you should be able to use WriteLog with no real
problem with XP.

Running XP home edition. Just downloaded WriteLog. I am in
trouble.......my cw is on LPT 1......rig is com 6...packet on com 1 (packet
does work). The help menu doesn't help.......it mentions something about
"comm slots" in the wrtelog.ini and I don't see it there. I hate to
experiment with the INI file, I just don't have the experience. I can do
some editing if someone could specifically show me the way. I am new to
all of this and do need some help. If you have an answer, please be
specific. One thought would be to meet some one on one of the bands so we
could probably discuss my options. My qth is Duluth, Minn and have antennas
for all bands. (I must be dreaming......) Any ways, help!

  I appreciate anyones input....

  thanks Paul KJ0B
