I posted a comment a few weeks back about Writelog not correctly entering
split mode using the minus key. When I hit the minus key, the frequency
entry window comes up. When I type in the frequency, the computer loads
both VFOs with the correct frequencies but it does not enter split mode. I
received several useful replies to my post with Ric, KV1W, offering the most
common sense suggestion of trying the same thing with CT to see if the radio
was the source of the problem.

I had just sent the 850 out for repair and I did not get a chance to try the
experiment. The radio is back now and, as it turns out, CT works fine.
However, what is notable is that there are 5 choices of Kenwood radios in CT
and Writelog has just one. Just to continue the experiment, I tried some of
the other Kenwood settings in CT. The TS950 setting also worked fine but
the TS440 setting did not. In fact the 440 setting did the same thing that
the 850 did using Writelog. I would conclude that not all Kenwood radios
are the same.

Is there anyone else out there using Writelog radio control with a TS850 or
does anybody have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks and 73,

Tom W2SC
